LulaRoe is built by thousands of independent retailers who rely almost entirely on word-of-mouth and social media marketing to sell clothes. In today’s instagram-centric world, effective marketing requires a pretty heavy knowledge of taking and curating photos as well as how to engage with people on the internet in a meaningful way. 

Each year, LulaRoe holds a conference to educate their thousands of sellers on new merchandise, tips and tricks, and business updates. They reached out to YFT and asked us to come up with an interactive experience to help educate sellers on how to take good photos and be more effective on instagram and visual social media.

With our background being primarily made up of imagery and community, this project came natural! 

Here’s what we did:

We wrote a book that outlined the fundamentals of photography: the fundamentals of composition, lighting tips and tricks, using contrast, editing apps and tips & tricks, before and after photos, ideas for flatlays, suggested tools-of-the-trade, and more. 

We created a variety of live scenarios where users could observe and practice photography techniques themselves while receiving live-instructions from professionals. We built rooms to resemble environments sellers might utilize themselves (living room, near a window) and created natural lighting scenarios that are accessible to anybody with a camera equipped device. 

We held instagram live sessions with successful influencers to talk about tips and tricks, growth and engagement strategies, editing photos, and planning out a feed.

This was a huge success and has been built into this conference as a regularly scheduled item of programming.
